Tin is on topic, I think. Bolivia produced about 7.5% of world tin (2003 figures).

Thailand and Malaysia produce a lot, mostly from dredges and offshore floating gravel pumps. These could be vulnerable to Typhoons ....

It looks like peak tin production was about 2002.

The European RoHS anti-lead solder standards are likely drive up tin use.
