True of some. But of course, some people are raised non-religious.

They became non-religious because the naturalistic explanations came to make so much more sense than what they grew up with. The investment is not what you think it is.

I think people change their viewpoints for many more reasons than "what makes sense". And much of the time are not necessarily even aware of the reasons. Very few people are strictly objective rationalists (perhaps none), even though that may be their self-image. Rationalism is something we may srive for and idealize - achieving it is tough.
