1) When will the merger conclude?

Sometime in the future assuming all regulatory hurdles are cleared. There is still a (very small?) chance that the merger won't happen.

2) What will the new ticker be (ALA)?

Last I read the combined company would have a new name. If the name changes the ticker symbol could also change. Wait and see.

3) How many shares LU = 1 share of new company?

Finally, a question with an answer. lucent.com says:

In a stock-for-stock merger, intended to be a tax-free exchange (except with respect to cash received in lieu of any fractional interest in an Alcatel ADS), Lucent shareowners will receive 0.1952 new company ADS (American Depositary Shares) representing ordinary shares of Alcatel (as the combined company) for every common share of Lucent that they currently hold except that a cash payment will be made in lieu of any fractional interest in an Alcatel ADS.
