Pcyhuang is there a sweet spot when it is more appropriate to try a contrarian trade than others,

Example is the January effect. when beatin down stocks are bought around Dec 15 and held thru January of the following year.

I guess what I am asking is when does tax selling capitulate or come to a head on the average I your opinion.

As when is your favorite time of year to invest contrarian style.
