I believe this may have to do with something that Microsoft is about to announce and actually has done a little bit already. Thought to share that a bit here with everyone and I appreciate it if anyone knows more about this. I just received the info so I am not sure what to make of it yet. However from the sound of it and if this ends up being what Microsoft promises, Microsoft may actually elevate itself to a class that can compete with Sun a little bit (and to some extend anyway).

Anyway, Microsoft will have a new technology called DNA (Distributed Networking Architecture). This is their answer to NCA (Network Computing Architecture) which is backed by many of Sun's partners such as Oracle and is based on Java's thin client computing model via Java. DNA is based on 2 things, a Framework and COM+ (MS's answer to JavaBeans). The frame work upon which DNA is based on will be NT 5.0 (which its beta version will be released next week - Actually it was supposed to be released this week but I was told it will not be till next week). Anyway, DNA is Microsoft's new answer to the thin client computing model Sun is advocating (they finally have come to the conclusion that NetPC is just pure nonesense)!

The themes of Microsoft's DNA will be what they call ZAW (Zero Admin Window), and via ActiveX/COM. The so called ZAW is to claim manageability (defined as TotalCostofOwnership addressed by Zero Admin Windows. I have not yet understood what this means and am just going to the documents to understand it a bit better (but it is Friday evening!). However I appreciate it if anyone knows more about ZAW to express his/her opinion on it.

Anyway, I am sure we will hear about ZAW in the following days/weeks from no other than Microsoft's marketing machine!

Also on the subject of SUNW's weakness this has always been the case during this time of quarter. For those who have been holders for sometime, they should know that by this time every quarter the news about insider sellings comes out, the stock starts to come down a little bit and then there will be worries of earnings expectations, etc.! I know, in my case what I will do. I have had an open order till cancel to buy additional shares of SUNW IF it hits $46.5 for about a month now. I am sincerely hoping for that order to be filled before the earnings come out!

As always just my own humble opinion and not as an investment advice.

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi
