I see that the list of races the DCCC dumped money into yesterday launched the usual hand-wringing, bitching, and whining about [insert_favorite_candidate_here] not getting money.

For one, that's not the sum total of the D-trip's spending. They've spent more before, and will spend more after.

Furthermore, there are more races "in play" today than have been in play for a long, long time. There is only X amount of money. It's a finite sum.

And just because candidate X is up in the polls today doesn't mean he or she will win in November. Republicans still have more money and a more technologically advanced GOTV machine than we do.

Therefore, every worthy candidate will NOT get national money, and it's natural that the DCCC will go for the kill in the races where we have the advantage. For every dime you demand for your guy, someone else's preferred candidate is getting screwed. It really is a zero sum game.

So instead of complaining about your candidate not getting money, how about you commit to another day of volunteering? People-power will win this election, not sitting around waiting for the national party to come bail our asses out.

That money is nice, but this election is a team effort -- the national party, the big donors, the grassroots, and the netroots. Some races will get three or more of those working on their behalf, some will get less.

But we don't need them all to win a race.

And on an unrelated note, 3 percent of all diaries the last six hours have the word "fuck" in the title. It's like the new "BREAKING!". Lame.

Be a little more creative than that. You're outraged. We get it. There are more articulate ways of expressing that, especially in a title.

It's getting ridiculous.

Update: A little more meta since we're on the topic:

In the last 24 hours, there have been just under 20,000 comments and just under 500 diaries.

That's some serious "chatter" going on.
