There's no field alterable microcode in the X86's, so no field changes are possible. If there were, do you think Intel would have had an exchange program to deal with the fp bug? BTW, re another of your posts, there's no confusion at Sun between UltraSparcs and Java chips. Only in your dreams. JMHO.
