Actually, I've never said vote for Democrats just because voting for Republicans would be worse. I've repeatedly said that the singly most important issue of our generation is oil independence. And yet, the Republicans in power today not only don't see that to be the case, but they are also in bed with the oil companies, as evidenced by Cheney and Bush both being oilmen, and by the $13B in tax breaks given to oil companies at the time of their most profitable years ever.

So you want a reason to vote non-Republican? Al Gore is the only man I know that is actively DOING something about energy and global warming. The rest just talk. So if I vote Democrat, it won't be just to be anti-Bush, it will be to vote for a candidate that will get us off the oil. If a credible Republican comes along that promises to set us on a path to getting us off oil, and it appears that he isn't just talking like Bush does all the time, then I'll vote for him.

But what Republican do you know of has credible oil independence credentials? I've searched and I can't find any. That's why I've started leaning Democrat. Very simply so.
