Things really have gotten out of hand, and the average consumer hasn't got much of a chance at getting good advice at retail. Knowledgeable salespeople at major chain electronics stores are only slightly more common than unicorns. I used to sell stereo and video gear at a mid-to-high-end store in New York, and I've tried to keep up, but it's almost impossible. - Allen
