New Orleans was wrecked by the floods:<gold is for systemic protection against the trend that allowed katrina to happen> If you build a city at or below sea level, you are not expecting it to last very long. If you build your house on a flood plain, it will get flooded. I don't think a pile of gold will stop the flood. Maybe you mean by "Katrina" the drop in the standard of living of people which followed the storm and the flood. Well, it's not much of a surprise. When big things go wrong, big, bad things happen.
