<Maybe you mean by "Katrina" the drop in the standard of living of people which followed the storm and the flood. Well, it's not much of a surprise. When big things go wrong, big, bad things happen.>

So, that's what you did mean. There was a tsunami not long ago. While Allah was great and all that, he didn't stop the tsunami. Neither did the authorities. Nor did they fix matters up afterwards. There were systemic weaknesses shown.

A third world country with similar problems [micro scale] = New Zealand with floods in low land in recent years. Systemic problems exposed.

Chernobyl exposed systemic problems.

Mao's great leap backwards exposed system problems.

Your racist attack on Americans is unfair. They blunder like other people. Their authorities are hopeless like others. Their population criminal like others.

There isn't enough gold, silver and platinum to protect everyone. There is enough for a few fanatics to squat up a hill waiting for the Rapture.

As with all other events, such as WWI, WWII, Great Depression, hyperinflation, famines, there are plenty of ways of staying afloat other than hoarding a bit of gold. Better ways!
