You have no idea how funny it is to be lectured by a Brit on how not to run an empire! ;^)

If it were true that the US wanted Iraq to be a vassal state, his critique would be at least interesting, but in point of fact, it's always been the other side who made that accusation, never the proponents of the war. If it were true that the US wanted to rule the world, yes, we don't seem to be doing a very good job of it. Do you feel ruled? I think not.
