You have to have a license to have wild fowl like scaup. I knew a guy who raised tame ducks and the mallards would get in and cross with them. He'd give me the cross bred chicks and I would raise them. About this time of the year the 2 dozen would take off and head South. Made me feel good to watch them go and I wished them well.
