So What is the Answer? I have also have an E*Trade Account and have run into the same problems that others have expressed on this thread. I had to take off a full day of work on Monday to try and straighten out an account error. Is this the price one has to pay for all deep discount electronic trading?

I think a good idea for a single-panel cartoon would be a decaying body with a phone in his/her hand. The bottom caption would read "Your call is very important to us, please remain on the line and one of our operators..."

I also think it is ironic that every time I call to try to straighten out something, the song that plays while waiting for the operator is "I've Got You Under My Skin".
I always mention to the person who eventually answers the phone that my hot stock tip of the day is to short the E*Trade Group stock.
