I looked at the interday trading graph, and before 12:30 the stock was mostly as high or higher than at close, so it is probably true that the trade was at the ask. I also note however that at about 10:30 there was a trade involving about 110,000 shares. So a possibility exists that someone bought a big block of DEC, and bought some short term downside insurance.

It may be that someone is expecting something bad to happen in the next three weeks to DEC, or it may just be insurance. If you want to buy a few Oct. puts yourself, they aren't that expensive, and it might be a good bet. But I wouldn't commit alot of dollars to them becuase it is possible that they are just some routine insurance for a big investor.

Other than that, I can't comment because I don't really follow DEC.
