i remember my cousin telling me a few years ago. our family was so poor. the relatives all felt sorry for us. we lived in two family flat, rented. no savings, no car, father retired at age 66 i was in fifth grade. late baby. we would buy a roast and it would last till thursday, friday forget perhaps a fish with fat over it. sat always franks and bean. then the roast again. g
i guess we were not poor. i never thought of us being poor. i went to private school. i think my folks paid $15. a year. i got my jacket for school on my birthday if i grew out of it. got my pants at christmas, that was my gift from santa.
now if we were poor by todays standards i assume we would have tons of stuff from federal welfare. funny back then folks didn't think they were poor. i always thought i us as middle class.

so if someone gets out of the projects or federally assistant housing and makes enough to get off subsidies or maybe their are special federal programs to help people get into their home they are now no longer poor.

you wouldn't believe how poor a lot elderly are with homes, it makes you cry. i would call them in poverty.

do we have low, middle , high poverty status?
