Is this as stupid as I think it is ?
<rant/on>No, it is not stupid. It is moronic, daft, mindless, moronissimo, abysmally dumb. And in Spanish: una gran pendejada.
Nokia didn't win squat....how I hate it when the media gets this s*** wrong, and they do it regularly. And it is so easy to get it right, that I am beginning to think conspiratorially.
The court of appeals reversed Judge Rudi, but told him to determine whether Nokia's demand for arbitration was "wholly groundless". If he says that it is "wholly groundless", as I think he very well may, he has the case and proceeds. If he says that Nokia's demand for arbitration, though weak, is not "wholly groundless," he sends the case to the arbitrator for him to decide whether the case is subject to arbitration. If the arbitrator says "no, case is not subject to arbitration," the judge gets the case. If he says "yes, case is subject to arbitration," he goes ahead and arbitrates.
  How is this a loss?
How is this anything but procedural wrangling that does not have a damned thing to do with the merits of the dispute? More important, how does this have anything to do with the stock price? It should not affect it one iota.
  Aaargh.........<rant/off>
I think the drop probably a lot more to do with the fact that Q did not issue its regular optimistic quarterly update stating that they were going to make more money than they thought, combined with the fact that the sector is not looking quite as healthy as it did before. |
