Do we need to keep every confirm for every trade? Or is a monthly statement showing all the trades for that month enough? Etrade (I'm switching from Etrade to Datek now) mails a monthly statement as well as a confirm for each trade. I have just been saving the monthly statement, and I hope that's enough for the IRS. Also, Etrade has the tax records available to print out, but, they are arranged somewhat differently on the page than the standard Schedule D, even though the info is the same. Will the IRS accept that? Last year I copied every trade onto a schedule D, but this year I'm thinking I will just print out Etrades records and attach to my return. Your thoughts?

Also, I hope Datek starts offering the simplicity of just printing out tax records for our returns.
