I am not saying that the decision to offer a 2 socket server had already been made in May, but that DELL thought they *might* and therefore left the door open with the language. It was clear to me, but perhaps not you, that DELL could easily design a 2S server in less time than it would take to design a 4S, and therefore there was a very good chance that they would.

Which is why I didn't decry the decision in May with Dougian language like, "DELL only wants a 4S server because Intel can't do that, but 4S Intel is coming, so DELL will just cancel it."
