We'll just have to disagree, as there was a report out in May that explicitly said "Four-processor", and Dell has always used the term "multiprocessor servers" to mean 4+ sockets, like almost everyone else, because of Intel's naming scheme. I think you're thinking that generically, multi- means >1, which is true. But the x86 server world has long used "multiprocessor server" to mean >=4, and applying "dual-processor server" to the 2-ways.

Regarding 4S v 2S, it wasn't about ease of design, but competitive performance. It's not even clear why Dell would launch a 2S HPC AMD box now. An Intel Woodcrest 2S box would outperform, and in another week or two, will obliterate (w/Clovertown), this newest 2S AMD box.
