Cost Saving VTL Solution That Provides Faster Backup and Recovery Now Available Through Solution Providers
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nexsan Technologies, the leader in innovative and secure storage solutions, and FalconStor (Nasdaq: FALC - News), the leading developer of proven data protection solutions, today announced the availability of a certified enterprise-class virtual tape library solution that combines FalconStor's VTL software and Nexsan's extreme-density storage systems.
The high-capacity virtual tape solution can scale up to 315 terabytes in a single rack, providing energy efficient disk-to-disk backup functionality for even the largest volumes of data. Nexsan's AutoMAID(TM) (Massive Array of Idle Disks) energy-saving technology allows the solution to place its disk drives to an idle state to conserve energy yet provide near-instantaneous access to data.
With FalconStor's VirtualTape software product line, and Nexsan's award-winning storage hardware, customers can leverage cost-effective SATA-based disk arrays to provision virtual tape drives and libraries to backup servers attached to an iSCSI/IP or Fibre Channel (FC) storage area network (SAN), without the need to change existing backup software configurations.
"Using disk-based Nexsan storage as an alternative to tape in the backup and recovery process is an intelligent way to dramatically accelerate backup traffic and improve the success rate of backup operations while lowering administrative costs," said Brendan Kinkade, Vice President of Marketing at Nexsan. "The combination of FalconStor's VTL with high capacity Nexsan storage enables customers can take advantage of the unparalleled efficiency and speed of Nexsan disk without changing the tape management procedures they already understand."
