Pacifica Resources Announces HC West Drilling Continues to Expand the Zone

Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, October 25, 2006 /FSC/ - Pacifica Resources Ltd. (PAX - TSX Venture), is pleased to provide an update on drill hole results in the newly discovered HC and HC West zones within the Don Valley open-pit target (see August 31, 2006 news release). The Selwyn Project hosts the world-class Howard's Pass SEDEX zinc-lead deposits. Drilling continues with 8-drill rigs confirming resources on the known mineralized. Location of the new zones and detailed drill plan maps are available at www.pacifica-resources.com.

Highlights

* Zone drilling shows potential for higher zinc and lead grades within the HC West open-pit target area such as DON-22 that includes a high grade interval of 2.67 metres true thickness grading 12.33% zinc and 3.07% lead within a 8.10 metre true thickness of 6.02% zinc and 1.73% lead.

* 178 drill holes have been completed year to date for a total of 36,280.6 metres.

HC West Open-Pit and Underground Target

The HC West zone was discovered through continued stratigraphic drilling in Don Valley to define the extension of the mineralized Active Member using Pacifica's detailed geological model for the Selwyn Project. This discovery was the successful follow-up of the discovery of the HC zone (see July 10, 2006 news release), that is located 1900 metres along trend to the southeast. The HC West zone is 6 kilometres northwest of the XY Central zone open-pit and underground targets. The presence of higher grade intervals within the mineralized zones provides a focus for potential development of resources that could be mined by underground methods. The mineralized Active Member in the HC West zone has now been traced for 800 metres along an east-west strike. The HC, HC West and Don zones are within Don Valley and all drill holes have been included in the DON series of holes.

Drilling continues down-dip and along strike of these new drill hole intercepts; noting that all drill intercepts to date are within the open-pit target of the floor of Don Valley. The HC West zone remains open in all directions.

One drill is testing the 3.8 kilometre portion of favourable strata in Don Valley that has not yet been tested for zinc-lead SEDEX mineralization. This area lies between the 2005 Don zone discovery in DON-04 and the HC West zone. In addition, two drills are now following-up mineralized Active Member in DON-04 (see October 25, 2005 news release).

HC Zone Open-Pit Target

Thirteen drill holes have now been successfully completed in and around the HC Zone with DON-11, DON-12, DON-13, DON-16, DON-17, DON-20, DON-23, DON-26, DON-28, DON-30, DON-31, DON-33, DON-34, and DON-35 having intersected zinc-lead mineralized Active Member. The HC zone has now been traced successfully over a strike length of 1,510 metres and is open down-dip for expansion; however, the mineralized strata is bounded laterally by large faults at the southeast and northwest limits. The eastern limit is most likely the faulted offset of the Brodel zone and the western limit is the faulted offset of the HC West zone. Pacifica has interpreted using its detailed geological 3-D model of the Active Member and extensive drill database that Brodel, HC, and HC West are all part of the same eastern limb of the syncline that hosts the XY deposit and is therefore part of a continuous mineralized system in this area of the Selwyn Basin. The down dip extension of the mineralized strata in these zones represent an attractive exploration target for resources amenable to underground mining.

Results from drilling of the HC zone demonstrates lateral and down dip continuity of the mineralization below the open pit target area:

Results of drilling other zones on the property are expected to be released shortly. Drilling with 8 drill rigs is expected to continue until approximately mid November. Drilling will continue in defining resources in the new zones, expansion of the near surface mineralization in the historical zones, and searching for continuation of higher grade zones beneath the open pit portion of these deposits; particularly on the XY deposit.

The Selwyn Project exploration program is being reviewed by Vice President Exploration, Mr. Jason Dunning, M.Sc., P.Geo. The onsite activities for the Selwyn Project are directed by Exploration Manager, John J. O'Donnell, P.Geo. Both Mr. Dunning and Mr. O'Donnell are Qualified Persons within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101. All assay data has been through internal validation of quality assurance and quality control. Pacifica has established a sampling and assay control program with blind insertion of assay blanks, standards and duplicates for the Selwyn Project; however, it should be noted that there is also a quality control and quality assurance program in place at both ACME Analytical Laboratories Ltd. ("ACME") and ALS Chemex that includes blanks, duplicates and standards. At ACME, silver and base metal analyses are conducted by a 17-element, four-acid digestion, ore-grade ICP-AES technique. At ALS Chemex, silver and base metal analyses are conducted by a 25-element, four-acid digestion, ICP-AES technique with overlimit protocols for zinc, lead, copper, antimony, arsenic, and barium conducted by an ore-grade aqua-regia digestion with an instrument finish (ALS-Chemex).

Pacifica's main focus is the exploration of its Selwyn Project in eastern Yukon and Northwest Territories. The Selwyn Project hosts very large tonnages of zinc-lead mineralization. The known deposits have the potential for large scale production of zinc and lead, at a time when World's zinc mine supply is in deficit and there are few new zinc-lead mines under development.

This press release may contain forward-looking statements based on assumptions and judgments of management regarding future events or results that may prove to be inaccurate as a result of exploration and other risk factors beyond its control and actual results may differ materially from the expected results. Additional drilling is required to confirm the continuity, thickness and grade of the new discovery areas and expansions of the current resource areas. Furthermore, there is no assurance that the resources being defined can be developed as an economically attractive mine, and there are many uncertainties associated with permitting and other factors that could delay such development.

THE TSX VENTURE EXCHANGE HAS NOT REVIEWED AND DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ADEQUACY OF THIS NEWS RELEASE.
