It must have been fun and interesting to go visit your grandfather when you were a boy. You probably had a really hard time keeping your hands off of that revolver then.

My grandparents had a little house in a town called Houghton when I was a kid. They had a great view of Lake Washington and could see all the way to the Olympic Mountains some 50-60 miles away. Although the area was fairly close to Seattle..........8-10 miles as the crow flies..........we could walk out their back door and go quail or pheasant hunting. He would mostly go down into the valleys for his birds, and even those valleys weren't very far away.

Today these valleys are filled with golf courses, tilt up buildings or are preserved as farm land. I think some birds are still there, but they would be very few and far between.

God bless my grandfather..............I never knew where he stored his guns. Never saw a one unless it was in his hands.

He was a wonderful person too.
