Power lunch: Bacteria turn leftovers to energy

There seems to be quite a bit happening along that line of technology up here. I'm behind on my reading these days, but if I come across some references, I'll post them. I do know that there are some farms in this region that have successfully built methane digesters and are producing more than enough power for their own operations. There's also an experimental plasma digester (I think that's what it's called) that will be built at the city's main landfill site - I think it just got the go ahead a couple of months ago. It would sure be nice to see such energy plants at all of the landfills instead of having the escaping gases going up into the atmosphere.
