about Rep. John P. Murtha
1. Murtha supported a “Cut and Run” policy with President Clinton in Somalia:
Osama bin Laden cites the "Cut and Run" from Somalia (1993) as the main reason he believed al Qaida could strike the U.S. with impunity.
2. Murtha aligns with and accepts awards from anti-military socialist organizations such as “Code Pink.”
4. Murtha called Marines “cold blooded murderers” prior to completion of an investigation, and contrary to public opinion these Marines have not been charged as of 10-17-06.
5. Murtha says he would not join the military today, nor should others. Then who's to defend us against our enemies? Who benefited from this statement and why?
6. On the other hand, Murtha voted to re-institute the draft.
7. Murtha said “it doesn't matter if PA's overseas service members vote,” and he refused to help. Why does Rep. John Murtha want to disenfranchise our service personnel?
8. Murtha "mis-spoke" about military recruitment not meeting their goals.
9. Murtha refuses to sponsor the “Stolen Valor Bill.” This bill makes it a crime to claim to have earned medals that you haven’t earned.
10. Murtha, himself, questioned his own military medals. He has refused to release his military records for 32 years.
11. Murtha repeatedly slips congressional pay and honoraria increases into bills. Since 1995, John Murtha has voted 11 straight times in favor of raising his own pay.
12. Murtha voted against securing our borders.
13. Murtha voted against protecting the Pledge of Allegiance.
14. Murtha voted for stem cell research and the destruction of live human embryos.
15. While Murtha was Chairman of the Defense Committee under President Clinton, he did nothing to realign our military after the Cold War. He did participate in the most drastic reduction of funding of our military budget in history.
16. Murtha loots the Defense Budget for non-military spending: Earmarks. He then complains there's not enough money for body armor for our troops. Earmarking is a practice by which funds are diverted from the “Intent of the Bill” and given to a favorite business, organizations, or other groups who are often large campaign contributors to that Congressman or Senator. The Congressman/Senator doesn’t even have to sign his/her name to the “Earmark”!
17. Murtha's blatant cronyism shoveled millions of Defense $ to his brother, close friends and colleagues:

Millions to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's nephew
Millions to PA Rep. Paul Kanjorski's kids
