"Democrats Expand Lead in Generic Ballots

The latest Diageo/Hotline poll Democrats have increased their lead in the generic congressional ballot and now lead by 18 points, 52% to 34%, up from 13 points last month.

In a generic Senate ballot, Democrats lead 55% to 32%.

Meanwhile, a Reuters/Zogby poll shows Democrats with an 11 point edge in the House ballot, 44% to 33%, up from nine points last month.

In Michigan, Another Poll Shows Granholm With Momentum

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) has increased her lead over challenger Dick DeVos (R) by four points since the beginning of the month, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll. Granholm currently beats DeVos 53% to 42%.

The governor appears to be headed for reelection as 47% of respondents "say they’re certain to vote for Granholm while 36% are certain they’ll vote for DeVos."

Two polls released yesterday also show Granholm expanding her lead.

Democrats on Verge of Sweep in Arkansas

In Arkansas, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Democrats winning contests for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. In all contests, the Democrat's lead is increasing.

The key race is for governor, where Mike Beebe (D) defeats Asa Hutchinson (R), 58% to 38%. In the last four weeks, Beebe's lead has grown from 15 points to 20 points.

Novak Predicts House Takeover

The latest Evans Novak Political Report says that if election were held today, Democrats would take over the majority in the House with a 21-seat pickup. Republicans would retain slim control of the Senate, losing only four seats, primarily because of late momentum in Tennessee and Maryland.

Key caveat: "While our seat-by-seat analysis shows Democrats winning the House by a four-seat margin, the overriding question is whether a 'wave' will deliver a really big Democratic majority. That presumes an overwhelming sentiment that negates seat-by-seat analyses."

In Tennessee, Senate Race a Dead Heat

Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN) and Bob Corker (R) are locked in one of the nation’s closest Senate races as evidenced by a new SurveyUSA poll. The two candidates are neck-and-neck at 48%."
