Intel stated "major objectives" in Netburst frequency scaling several years ago which were never realized. Objectives aren't accomplishments.

I have no reason to assume that either company is not going in this direction.

No one is arguing that AMD and Intel aren't talking a lot about CPU-GPU integration.

I would assume that Intel would be further ahead as AMD just started in that direction yesterday.

Intel has had past experience which they probably used 4-5 years ago (Timna) to develop what will be in Nehelem which I would presume to be their latest experience as I would assume that's pretty well defined at this point.


No they didn't. AMD started in that direction a few years ago when they bought the Geode product line and started using Geode GX CPUs in PICs. One reason for purchasing ATI was CPU-GPU integration, which meant AMD was planning for CPU-GPU integration before their negotiations with ATI ever started.
