Are you talking cause/effect? Hell, an increase in oil efficiency of that magnitude would be a huge stimulus to the economy! You complain about taxes, but at least they get spent on goods and services produced by other people. Money spent on gasoline for inefficient energy clients goes up in noxious fumes.

That money would become productive.
