Perhaps we are in a 'Stagflationary rolling depression' with pockets of great weakness and other areas of incredible strength always in conflict with each other but a relentless loss of purchasing power as time goes on? So in the end it crushes both perpetual doom and gloomers and the masses that are always late to the most recent party?
