A Little Uranium [Stanley Kurtz]
Why all this fuss over Iran's defiant expansion of its nuclear enrichment capacity? There are several reasons not to be concerned about this. First, we can be confident that our European allies, in concert with the Russians and Chinese, will invoke powerful economic sanctions against Iran, under U.N. auspices. Second, the election of Speaker Pelosi will certainly be taken by Ahmadinejad as a sign that America's military option remains on the table. Third, even if Iran gets the bomb, proliferation spreads throughout the Middle East, and terrorists feel empowered thereby to make an untraceable nuclear strike on the United States, it will only take the loss of a city or two for this country to unite behind a tough foreign policy. So rest easy. What's a little uranium between enemies?
