With terror threats to Ras Tanura (whodathunkit!!), and more such threats surely in the planning, the peaceful Canadian oil sands are looking better and better. At least Royal Dutch Shell thinks so. It is buying the small amount of Shell Canada it doesn't own. platts.com Peak oil can come in sneakily, through the back door, with cries of Allahu Akhbar! preceding it. Note the possible takeover candidates mentioned in the article.
