Hi Robert, my hunch is based on recent market share loss at Nikon
($170 million order from Hyundai to ASMLF) and other lost share to asmlf, that the technical problems are for real. In fact, Mr. Akins himself on the call said that a risk to Cymer was that his clients had to overcome the normal gliches on the fab floor that are attributable to any new process technology in a full production environment. he went on to reference CMP and other process steps. This is just common sence given the technical issues associated with high volume production. Having said this, these kinks almost always get worked out and the only variable becomes time (execution) upon which CYMI is dependent having only 4 clients. Jay Deahna pointed out that "Nikon is suffering early life cycle system integration difficulties while Cannon has lens problems that impact its ability to properly transmit a narrow bandwidth laser light source to the surface of the wafer." These issues are expected to be worked out, however,
it may take several quarters.

I know from following ASMLF that they have a red hot DUV tool, and they are taking share. Cymer lasers are on board and are working!

Finally, Akins for reasons he himself stated can't say Boo at this stage of the cap ex cycle.

Hope this Helps,

Jay
