Peter, Sometimes, acting like a back woods hick can be a useful tactic. I used to travel to NYC five times a year to visit with the furniture buyer of J.C. Penney, and get him to buy new styles for the stores within out reach. Each time I went, I wore my western boots, and a cowboy hat with the brim shaped just right, and those yankees got the idea that I was a hick from the boon docks. I put a little more drawl in my speech than usual, and they thought I was easy picking. Got some really good business from them, and laughed all the way on the plane heading home to Texas.
