Could be that the fact that Jews were banished from Portugal in 1496, and my ancestors and I became a New Christians, (my surname is of a new Christian), and this fact that a Jew ancestry explain why I am so clever? (Man, I'm modest!)

Jews were expelled from Portugal. However, many of them, when expecting the boats to other European countries, were baptized against their will. These ones and their descendants, as well as all the others that stayed in Portugal, were called New Christians afterwards.
