I thought the interview was very misleading as well as the book.

Mr. Griffins appears to not even understand the basic concept that the Fed gives all interest earned on government securities back to the US treasury after subtracting costs.

He says over and over that the Fed creates money out of thin air and then charges US taxpayers for loans. That's only part of the story and it's very misleading to omit the part about the Fed giving the money back to the treasury.
