Jerry: What should Novell do about....

Here is a product from MS that would have me sweating bullets if I was in marketing at Novell. Microsoft Small Business Server (Pricing not set but less then $2,500 - way less). See the details below.

But why hasn't Novell responded with a bundle of their own? This product will lock up the lower end for MS and these folks will grow into the higher end products as they reach 25 plus seats. The lack of a competing bundle is devastating. How much would it cost to "Make" a competing bundle on Novell and third party products.

If you were outfitting a small business what would you install? I'm serious - What would you as a professional in the field choose for the customer? All these products for less then $2,500 or a smorgasboard costing? Not to mention the fact that the MS solution is a single vendor solution from desktop to server to Applications. One vendor relationship for the customer to manage....

If this isn't a no brainer I don't know what is. It will dominate the small business segment which is a Huge untapped market that has to be won as the higher end is starting to become saturated.

Microsoft Small Business Server contains the following products for up to 25 users and will sell for less then 2,500 dollars - much less....

microsoft.com

File, Print and Application Services
Microsoft Internet Information Server
Microsoft SQL ServerT
Microsoft Exchange Server with Microsoft OutlookT
FAX Services
Microsoft FrontPage
Microsoft Proxy Server
Modem Sharing
Microsoft Internet Explorer

Wow, must be expensive right? Well it will sell for less then $2,500 which is the current BackOffice Price. Very tough to beat IMO.
