When the process disproportionately favors one person or company over others that is not fair.

When small companies or individuals get land for free or at a great discount they are also being favored disproportionately. If Bob gets an acre for free, and Mary gets 10 at half price, but Sam doesn't get any free land or discount, then Bob and Mary are being favored over Sam.

Its exactly the same when "Megacorp XYZ" gets 100,000 acres at a discount. It might be worse because its a bigger transaction, just as a disaster that kills 20,000 people is worse than a disaster that kills 20, but its a matter of degree, the 20 people are just as dead as the 20,000, the 10 acres are just as subsidized as the 10,000.

You seem to object to "getting rich" from the subsidy. Are you trying to imply that "getting rich" off of subsidies is severely problematic, but benefiting without getting rich is perfectly ok? I don't understand that logic.
