Rush already has problems because of his perceived hypocrisy on the drug issue, and to follow that with this... what was he thinking? Certain elements on the far Right believe that Dems/libs trot out spokespeople who are unassailable, because of their personal tragedies, to represent leftist views on certain topics: Cindy Sheehan, The 911 Widows, MJ Fox, etc. They (Rush, Malkin, Coulter) have deliberately started attacking these spokesfolks in an attempt to make them assailable to the masses again. It is part of their overall strategy to hold onto power and compassion doesn't even enter into the equation.
