Wimpy, Cubans and Vietnamese who the US helped flee their countries are all from the governing class, which in both cases was rightwing anti-communist. These are amongt the most virulently rightwing ethnic groups in the country. As we know the Thieu and Batista governments were also very corrupt.

The Cubans in Miami are a particularly costly bunch to democracy in this country. They wield far too much political power for their numbers because they vote almost as a block, pro GOP, and they are often the swing vote in that swing state.
