To me the distinction is about greed. It is not, in my opinion, greedy to want to provide for one's family. On the other hand there are those whose accumulation of wealth no longer can justifiably be considered maintaining one's family. It becomes more about power and control and greed than anything else.

It's not really monopolizing in the strict literal sense of meaning only one. Maybe a better word is bogarting or hogging. And in fact it is a zero sum game even though if you look at it in one sense there is tons of land, the land that is really valuable or has unique potential is quite limited.

I'm surprised you aren't aware of the fact that many American fortunes were made in this way. It's similar to the monopoly that the government gave to the Federal Reserve to print money. Why should one group of people get to benefit from the original creating of money out of nothing? it is not fair, despite the fact that we posture (falsely) as a meritocracy.
