We seem to have different opinions of the job of the president as well as what a political job really means.

IMO, the government is the government of all the people and not just the government of those who voted for it. Naturally, the government will operate according to what it believes is the best course and that matches its ideological/party beliefs. But that does not mean that the government should support any particular party. To do so is to betray the other half of the people whom the government represents.

It is not the same, on two counts:

(1) Bush is not on official vacation, so he is just AWOL

(2) Your amount of paid vacation is limited. Bush (and all the other presidents for that matter) don't seem to think any limitations should be placed on their paid personal time.
