Bush to Chime In on Kerry Comments

John Kerry has made a strong personal response to the Bush administration's false claim that he had belittled the troops in Iraq with his comments before a group of students in California. Through the White House press secretary, Tony Snow, the administration is trying to make a case that Kerry should apologize to the troops for having made certain comments.
The truth of the matter is that Sen. Kerry was simply attempting to share a joke that was intended to characterize the President as someone who didn't do his homework when he was in school and, as a result, didn't do his homework before he rushed us into Iraq under false pretenses. He was telling the students that they should study hard so as to avoid future mistakes or avoidable disasters like the quagmire that we're currently enduring in Iraq. In other words, in actuality he was calling President Bush and his administration, "stupid and lazy" and NOT the soldiers with whom Sen. Kerry so strongly identifies with and supports, having been a soldier himself.
To my absolute delight, Sen. Kerry did not apologize for this feeble attempt by the Bush administration to mischaracterize his thoughts and feelings on the subject and instead reiterated, in no uncertain terms, his strong feelings on how badly George Bush and his administration has mismanaged and botched the war in Iraq, leaving the soldiers, and the country (both the U.S. and Iraq), to suffer the consequences of his poor study habits.
So, Sen. Kerry owes an apology to no one, and especially not to those his remarks were intended to target in the first place, namely, George Bush and his administration.
If Pres. Bush wishes to chime in on this then ALL DEMOCRATS should join with John Kerry in the battle by returning the fire with unmitigated vigor and intensity. If anyone is so deserving of criticism, it is George W. Bush and his administration. Obviously, Bush is justifiably very vulnerable on the subject of Iraq (and his own military record). Maybe Kerry can once and for all do what he should've done when he was running in 2004 -- Fight back! Smack down all of the chickenhawk Republicans who have screwed our country up so royally. Let's make Bush and Iraq the topic of the evening news and talk shows during this final stretch before the elections.
