President George W. Bush's multilateral attempt to stop Iran's development of nuclear weapons is futile.

Multilateralism will not work vis-a-vis Iran because neither Europe nor Russia nor China is duly alarmed about a nuclear Iran, or rather, they are quite content to look on and see how awkwardly the United States is tripping over itself here and there in the Middle East. And why should they worry about Israel, Iran's must vulnerable target?

None would shed any tears if the regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wiped Israel off the map. Of course, the entire Islamic world, with its 1.5 billion Muslims, would then explode in ecstatic joy and shout a billion Allah Akbars! Yes, and they would rampage everywhere in complete confidence that Islam was on the march, that no force could stop it, that the world was now theirs for the taking. All the centuries of resentment, of pent up hatred of the West, would erupt like a volcano. Civil war would break out in countries having significant Muslim minorities—cheered by the Hitler of Iran.

Do I exaggerate? During the Muslim conquest of India entire cities were burnt down and the populations massacred, with hundreds of thousands killed in every campaign. Islam's massacres in India, writes Serge Trifkovic, "are unparalleled in history, bigger in sheer numbers than the [Nazi] Holocaust …"

Americans had better take notice: Ahmadinejad has declared war not only on Israel but also on the United States. Unless stopped, he will produce suitcase bombs easily smuggled in the more than one million crates that enter the United States each year, of which only 3 percent are examined. Only the United States has the power—but does it have the will?—to put an end to its greatest nemesis, the Iranian regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
