I haven't been around in awhile, and I recall that I won't see your reply to me, if you leave one. Let me just say you admit Kerry had a "gaffe." Kerry himself said it was a "botched" joke, if in saying so he merely brushed over the "botched" notion lightly in a sentence of a different point (pretty weak and poor form for apology, IMHO). Well, THAT is the point. At no time did Kerry have sense enough to just come out and pointedly say, for instance, "Let me be as crystal clear as I know how. What I said clearly held a meaning all can see, which should disgust all Americans, a meaning which I did not intend. I apologize for my words, as their plain meaning was wrong as wrong can be, and I distance myself from them here and now."
He's such an ass for not doing so. Tony Snow is right, it's hard to believe the man allowed that to pass his lips in the first place, and harder to believe that he doesn't understand the plain need to make a plain apology.
But, that's Kerry. Always has been, IMHO. He can squawk about spin all day long, but NO ONE has spun the words but KERRY himself, and he needs a new loom.
