I was making a comparison between the reaction to the Northwest passage controversy, and the reaction to the denial of even more northerly claims based on the sector idea (basically everything North of Canada, is claimed by Canada). In neither situation does Canada try to physically enforce its claim, but more Canadians seem to get upset and protest about the assertion of the Northwest passage as an international passage, then get upset about the denial of the "sector" claims.
