Well Tim, we'll have to disagree.

Maybe.

The Gulf of Sidra is a coastal bend.

I specifically said they were not identical, but the northwest passage isn't a river either.

As to the north of Canada claims well, I mentioned 200 mile limit as in say a corollary to the Gulf of Sidra claims, ie Lybia and a 200 mile limit.

I thought you meant the 200 mile exclusive economic zone, not bogus 200 mile claims for territorial waters.

I am curious to know what you think the US position would be were the NW passage surrounded by US territory, even going back pre 911 and homeland security ? I think it would be viewed very much if not exactly like the Mississippi by the US, a channel through your country. Disagree ?

The US government might claim that its American territorial waters, but 1 - That isn't "exactly like the Mississippi", and 2 - I'm not a hypothetical US government in that situation, or even the current US government. If the US government declared Toronto was sovereign US territory it wouldn't be relevant to my arguments.
