Agreed.

The words chosen for the prepared text Kerry read from (in any of the 3 versions trotted out thus far) didn't end up there by accident. Their utter disdain for our troops includes a fervent belief in all manner of discredited memes (poor, uneducated, warmongers, criminals, etc.).

Those words were chosen by the speech writers. They got past editors who review all of Kerry's speeches. And Kerry delivered them with dead seriousness because that is exactly what they all really think.
