Vestas wins large turbine order in China

The wind turbine company Vestas Wind Systems A/S has received at big order for delivery of a total 103 wind turbines for two wind power projects in China.

Totally Vestas will deliver 145 MW to the Chinese, who have ordered 50 units of the V80-2.0 MW turbine and 53 units of the V52-850 kW turbine.

The order has been placed by two state-owned utilities Longyan and Huaneng, which are among the five largest utilities in China’s electric power sector.

The orders comprise supply of turbines as well as commissioning. Delivery of the turbines will start in fourth quarter 2006 and commissioning of the wind power plants is planned to take place during 2007.

»It is of utmost importance to our customers that they have highly efficient and reliable wind turbines which are adapted to the specific site conditions. Longyuan and Huaneng are experienced operators of wind power plants with a portfolio of more than 500 and 350 MW respectively, so we are very proud to be their preferred choice,« Thorbjørn N. Rasmussen, President of Vestas Asia Pacific A/S, said. The order will not affect Vestas Group’s expectations for 2006.

Immediately after the announcement of the order the Vestas share rose by 2.3 per cent to a price of 167 on the Copenhagen stock exchange.
