Nick did himself and me proud. He made up his own mind and said "dad - I know you have to punish me but I just couldn't let him hit me anymore." I told him not to worry about it for now and that I would sit down with him tonight and help him move forward from the decision he made. He cried a little but he gave me a big hug after I said that and told me he loved me. Now I have to go wipe the tears from my eyes and prepare for our little talk tonight. He's already been busted down so my job is to build him back up and restore his confidence in hs decision making abilities. He did exactly what I'd have done when I was his age only he did it better - he did it in two punches instead of 3 :-)
