BOTH SIDES who are fighting and killing each other will consider it a 'victory' when the US leaves.

There isn't really "BOTH sides" there are a large number of different factions. All the radical anti-US ones would consider it a victory over the US. That isn't good for us, because some others that aren't currently fighting with them would join in because of this "victory".
